After The Storm

Another repost from an Facebook post I made. The human spirit is incredible.

I could not possibly say thank you enough to those who helped us & scoured our neighborhood helping others. No job was too big or small for them. We had a crew from Solace church come by and take a tree down for us. The CPHS Volleyball & Soccer teams cleaned up debris. Even neighbors, who had damage of their own, came to help other neighbors. These people were the hands & feet of Jesus today. My heart is so full & I am so proud of this community!

I copied this from a Facebook post I made the day after the tornado. I have never been so frightened in my life. The girls & I were huddled up in the bathroom. James & I had just returned from a trip to the store. I am still in awe of the power and the sound that came from the wind. The video I have posted shows the tornado as it is passing directly over our neighborhood.

~Finally have service. We were hit but all ok! Our neighborhood is a mess. Our house & my parents both have minor damage. Still no power. Our neighbors to the left had 2 large trees ripped from the ground & a fence down. To the right there’s a trampoline in his garage & a building destroyed. We are so incredibly lucky. Just one street over is the trailer park. It’s awful. I burst into tears when I saw it last night. Please pray for these families. I have several former students who lived there.

Cha Cha Cha

I have to admit that I was a bit sad when this day started. Today is my birthday. Today, for as long as I can remember, was the day when my Grandma Betty called & sang “Happy Birthday” to me. I didn’t hear that voice to start my day this year. But, God made sure I got to hear my song through others. One of my students & her mom called & sang to me. My Aunt & Uncle called & sang to me. A friend called & sang to me. I missed all 3 calls so they are on my voice mail. I cried as I listened to each one. You all brought a piece of my Grandma to me today. All the friends & family that texted & sent messages to me, all those that took a minute out of your day to stop & think of me…you helped make a difference in my day. I am so grateful for the people in my life. It was a wonderful birthday, thanks to all of you!
